#8 Background of the Survey

I. Overview of Research Paper

Within the three months given for us to search about our topic, I have gathered sufficient amount of information that I myself had never know about my topic. My topic “Procrastination”, is a very common issue felt by most students. But since there are many obvious facts on “Procrastination”. This term paper will focus on the reasons why the negative effects observed on students were very evident

So far, I've finished the first part of my research paper. The first part was the abstract of my term paper wherein it basically talks about my reaction to my term paper. With regards to the data that I gathered, I've already searched about the misconceptions about procrastination, What are the different unfavorable effects of procrastination besides insufficient presence of academical benefits(e.g. Lack of Sleep, Stress, disinterest in learning.), purpose of procrastination, some reasons of procrastination and some explanations why procrastination is sometimes essential on students it's said purposes.

The next part of my research process is the distribution of survey questionnaires to my chosen respondents, mostly students. And to find out more information to support my studies. Also, continue to search about the data I've already gathered because there are still unclear and unanswered parts in my term paper.

II. Survey Questions

My survey will composed of five questions consisting of different types of questions. There would be a multiple choice question, a yes and no question, and rating items. The first question will be asking if whether the students Procrastinate or not. This particular question is important for it well tell if students will quickly do their work or if they procrastinate first before they start to work. In this question the respondents will just check the choices given on the question.

Next, is a multiple choice question on procrastination wherein it asks the respondents on how long they procrastinate. In order to know the results the respondents are to choose the given choices on the question. The choices that will be given are an hour, more than an hour, a night, and lastly a whole day. Knowing these factors will help me to know how much time has been wasted because of procrastination.

The third question will ask the respondents on what do they do while they are procrastinating. This is a multiple choice question. Now that the second question is answered, this third question will somewhat continue the flow. It is important to know what the respondents usually do while they are procrastinating, whether is is necessary or not. The given choices will be sleeping, surfing on the web, eating, watching tv, and others. I have the added the choice others because maybe some respondents prefer other things besides the given choices on the question.

The next question will be asking the respondents to rate the given choices whether one must procrastinate or not. Such choices includes homework’s, projects, chores, and lastly research papers. Then in the end there is a blank space provided so that the respondents will be able to make their statements. This will be important for me to know the results because I will know whether the students are just procrastinating or just lazy to do it.

And the last question will ask the respondents whether is it necessary to procrastinate or not. This question is a yes and no question. Also included in the question is a portion asking why respondents chooses their desired choice. In that portion the respondents are free to express their thoughts and reasons why they should do it or not.

III. Prediction

With my five question about procrastination and it's effect I'm expecting a general answer from the respondents. For what I have been observing also based on all my research, the procrastination negative points will be outnumbered to the positive side of procrastination. I am expecting the answers like it is too much, it is not necessary for it is already experiencing by most students at school and at work. In short I am expecting the same answers from what are from the studies that I have researched about.

Becoming a Procrastinator

What is a procrastinator anyway?
A procrastinator is simply a person must do something but has to postpone it in order to work on something else (usually useless stuff).

Life of a procrastinator is I believe pretty much straight forward. You are careless, irresponsible, unproductive and lazy. But are procrastinators really are all that?

I have recently read this article "How to Be a Better Procrastinator" by John Perry and what I have understand about that article is not all procrastinator are what you think they are. Although they spend a lot of time doing unnecessary things, they are like to be more creative on the whole time. Based on the article "Most procrastinators are structured procrastinators" which means "That although they may be putting off something deemed important, their way of not doing the important thing is to do something else." Like for example I should be doing this blog instead of playing my PSP or going to Facebook and chat with my friends. That is why sometimes I feel bad because I often let my other classmates to procrastinate with me also which kind a makes a domino effect.

This article also contains some tips to becoming a better procrastinator. The first tip was this "Don't listen to most of the advice offered to procrastinators by people who don't have this particular flaw". like for example this one, also based on the article "Keep your commitments to a minimum, so you won't be distracted." Instead of turning you to an industrious human being this by this statement alone degrades your own personality thus turning you more lazy and much more unproductive.

The second tips was "Don't sit around feeling bad because you lack willpower." In which case this will not help you do anything. In order to regain willpower one must find tools. Tools that has the ability to make up on what you lack on your willpower.

The third tip was "Avoid perfectionism". In this case it simple means stop fantasizing doing your work perfectly. Procrastination is a "lees-than-perfect job" in which it doesn't need a perfect job.

And lastly and the most important tip of all "Learn how to be less annoying to the non-procrastinators around you." This statement simply means don't convince others to procrastinate with you and admit to them that this is sort of kind of a flaw.

This concludes the life of a procrastinator if you want to become a successful procrastinator just follow these tips and you are on your way to becoming a procrastinator, or you could just open your Facebook account and chat with your friends  thus leading your way to unsuccessful trail of becoming a procrastinator. Your choice.

Introduction of Being a Procrastinator

I'm Juan Paolo Reyes and I am sixteen years of age and I am a studious student who studies at Asia Pacific College. I am currently taking the course of Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Arts. I am an art, movie, music, sports and tech enthusiast, which kinda explains why I take this course. Other than being an enthusiastic person I also tend to be a singer inside our bathroom, a dancer inside my room, and an artist whenever I see a paper and pencil on top of a table and lastly I am also a zombie whenever I woke up at Mondays., because of my eye bags caused by the tons of work that I all crammed last Sunday night. As you can observe I am not just an enthusiastic person I am also a crammer and a procrastinator which brings me to my question.

"Is It good to be a procrastinator?"

I chose this as my subject because I am now what you may now consider a procrastinator and in the journey of my blog I am gonna tell you on how I become one and if you consider yourself to as a procrastinator. I will also be tackling about the health effects of being a crammer and how to cure it before it becomes more serious. I hope that people would read about this and take note of how important doing something is. As a student/procrastinator I want to help other students/procrastinator to get rid of this habit or lessen this habit so that they can become more responsible and more healthy students.

Furthermore this blog will be filled with subject related information to help the readers, like you, to understand how this is important. I will do my best to reveal all the answer to one of the subject related questions that will be given on the successful days. I may write opinions or ideas or other articles to support my point but all sources and reference will be accordingly credited in order not to commit plagiarism. This blog may not be as a formal blog as it should be but I want to express opinions and cite different views as possible.

With all that, let me introduce to you my blog.
Happy Reading!
